Welcome to the culinary voyage of Madras Diaries South Indian restaurant, where theme-based restaurant experiences come alive through the visionary lens of Sumesshmenon Associates’ Indian restaurant interior expertise. Our team meticulously crafts interiors for restaurants, turning spaces into captivating stories. At Madras Diaries, the restaurant’s interior design is a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, with each corner reflecting the rich tapestry of South Indian culture. The restaurant isn’t just a place to savor exquisite cuisine; it’s a portal into an immersive cultural journey. Sumesshmenon Associates have redefined dining by enveloping patrons in an ambiance that seamlessly complements the culinary artistry, setting new standards for restaurant experiences.
At the very entrance, the quaint charm of brick-clad walls, defined more sharply by an exquisite vintage wooden door especially flown in from Chennai; seem very inviting and intriguing at the same time. The traditional wooden door inset with decorative brass knobs is offset by the chirpy yellow colour of the windows. A quirky elephant artwork on the host desk at the entrance hints at the influence of the South along with beautiful elephant printed tiles adorning the floor too. The entire restaurant is divided into an interior dining space and a more casual alfresco area, divided by a dainty terracotta-finish screen.
The interior dining space offers a more intimate experience with pinewood tables and vibrantly upholstered furniture all set against the raw background of an interesting brick pattern wall and muted grey walls. Madras Diaries is all about blending vibrant hues with an earthy vibe. The place is high on colour and energy. There is detail in every nook and cranny, an assortment of fine craft, customized walls, and furniture. There is a tasteful play of textures, patterns, and colours that echo the colourful energy of local Madras. The selection of material palette was also done with a traditional touch in mind. Motifs like elephants and bells have been used throughout the space alongside the bamboo mat ceiling cladding and Bharat flooring tiles with intricate patterns. Artists have contributed to bringing alive glass partitions and doors with art.
The outdoor area has a charming nook carved out as a 9-seater space under a gorgeous floral canopy. Rustic stone tabletops and bright coloured yellow and turquoise chairs are set against the raw earthiness of exposed brick walls and touches of biophilic design all around the outdoor space making one feel that they are dining in a magical secret garden. Several sensory elements juxtaposed within the interiors evocative of its meanderings through vintage Madras are stylized and presented in a brand new personality and flavour.
The place is a charming ode to all things South Indian and fun. It’s earthy, chirpy, and refreshing with a refreshing new theme – raw earthy meets fun South Indian.
