A look at iconic celebrity hotspot Trilogy’s revamped avatar

Mumbai’s multiple seafronts are where all the buzz is. An iconic citadel of Juhu nightlife is the Trilogy nightclub, part of the popular Hotel Sea Princess. Owned by Ryan and Keenan Tham, the nightclub—re-christened as Trilogy Superclub—is currently enjoying a renaissance of sorts. When the nightclub first opened its doors in 2010, it was all the rage. It still continues to be so.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Trilogy has undergone a revamp. The first major do-over was carried out in 2013. Fast forward to 2018 and reinvention seems to be the key to success for the Tham brothers and their five-star nightclub. Helmed by Mumbai-based interior design firm Sumessh Menon and Associates, the new layout, spanning 4,000 square feet, seamlessly integrates contemporary decor and modern technology.

Since the two-storeyed nightclub is already an established entity, for Sumessh Menon and his team, the challenge lay in knowing precisely how to take the ‘wow’ factor a few notches higher. “We considered introducing technologically advanced concepts that haven’t been tried before in India. And so, our design pitch included the mobile DJ console (which shuttles between the ground and VIP levels) and kinetic lighting,” says Menon.

The psychedelic wave of the sugar cube-like kinetic lighting above the double height dance floor is undoubtedly the highlight of the nightclub. Made up of 600 kinetic light spheres, the lighting is designed to move according to patterns that can also be customized, driven on a Madrix system. “An Australian consultant specializing in kinetic lighting was especially roped in for this project,” Menon tells us.
