As the first overseas franchise, Yazu At The Beach is a picturesque dining hotspot located at the beachfront oasis of Radissan Blu in Galle, Sri Lanka. It is a tropical [Asian] haven like no other featuring an impressive prefabricated timber structure. Natural wood and woven cane elements dominate the space, and its earthy character sits perfectly well in the ocean-facing sandy arena..

SCALED OPULENCE

Yazu Galle is essentially two imposing and overlapping timber structures, resulting in spacious indoor and outdoor seating areas. It is an interior-architecture engineering gem for its contemporary take and use of pre-fabrication technology. Craft and science (yes, even Math) synergise to form this magnanimous cocoon of fine dining splendour.

MADE IN INDIA PROWESS

From design, engineering to the entire execution [from the structure, to furniture, flooring to lighting], the project has been a proud Made-in-India triumph. SMA was able to showcase the skillsets and technical prowess of Indian designers, creators and craftspersons. Alongside its collaborators, mainly The Pod Project [Nirbhay Sohal and Ranjeet Dhody] and structural consultant Dilina Hettiarachchi, SMA managed to pull a remarkable feat in the design development and execution of Yazu Galle.

UNIQUELY HARMONISED

Yazu Galle is filled to the brim with imposing forms and elements and still manages to provide pockets for intimate gathering and relaxation. The design both maximises and complements the beachfront nature of the venue, and ensures the space has plenty of intrigue and character of its own. The structure is harmonised within this setting with its tonality and timber element playing a key role and also draws patrons in immediately; the scale and intricate details helps achieve this objective.
