MIZU JAPANESE THEME RESTAURANT INTERIORS
Mizu Japanese theme restaurant interior project executed by Sumessh Menon & Associates
Aside from the pièce de résistance of the space which is undoubtedly the large 15 feet long boat-shaped ceiling installation which displays a vibrant artwork, a major nod to the Japanese inspiration also includes the oriental-inspired screen partitions, natural wood finishes, concrete flooring with Japanese inscriptions on it, the rugged stone bar apron with carved inscriptions on it and of course the stunning 21 running feet custom banana fabric light fixture above the bar that is shaped like an abstract fish form. A stone finish wall along one side of the space lends an earthy touch to the ambiance of the whole space and adding further richness to it is the plush colour palette of deep reds, fuschias, and velvety greys and blues.
While one sees a rich synthesis of textures and materials in the interior design of the space, there is also emphasis given on accessorizing the space meticulously wherein one sees an entire wall set up as a display of an array of handmade ceramic tea kettles designed by Art Ichol. Mizu is as much about the oriental ambiance as it is about the food.
