Fusion design is the highlight of this newly completed project called Mustard located at Atria mall in Worli. Owned by Punam Singh, this brand new restaurant combines French and Bengali cuisine that inevitably unfolds onto the interior design too. Welcomed by a deep blue French louvered door, this uniquely eclectic space exudes an equal blend of Bengali grace with French flair in terms of artwork, furniture design, upholstery, and light fixtures.

Rustic French chairs with soft floral fabrics paired with distressed polish finished tables are surrounded by beautiful local artwork done by artists from Pondicherry. The bar apron is a beautifully done deep wooden finished design with rich carvings reminiscent of French mouldings and a bar back display clad entirely in the distressed mirror.
The space has cozy nooks arranged into semi-private seating spaces with plush sofas and low tables. The front road facing façade is designed with French louvered doors in pastel shades giving it a rich and inviting look.

The design process began with a focus on conceptualizing a theme that mirrors the restaurant’s fusion menu. Drawing inspiration from French colonial architecture, the team incorporated pastel-hued louvered doors and custom-designed furniture to establish a cohesive visual identity. A natural material palette, including cane, wood, and jute, paired with neutral tones and soft floral fabrics, creates a serene and sophisticated atmosphere. The layout thoughtfully balances cozy nooks and semi-private seating areas, enhancing intimacy and comfort for diners.
The design style is characterized by an eclectic blend of traditional and contemporary elements. Custom furnishings, accented with local artwork from Pondicherry, add cultural authenticity to the space.
