The Bar Stock Exchange Bar Interior

Malad, Mumbai

Area : 6000 sq. ft.

One of the city’s favourite hangout bar – The Bar Stock Exchange has opened its newest outlet at Malad featuring a unique industrial style “transport” theme spread across a vast 6000 square feet area including an indoor and outdoor that has been designed to be artfully divided by the extensive 150 feet long inside-outside bar. The long bar with sliding folding windows to it, that singly serves both inside and outside areas and features an aluminium cast countertop with moulded fascia undoubtedly stands as the piece de resistance of the entire space.

The roofing is entirely of traditional king post truss style. The ceiling of this thematic bar interior design is entirely clad in a rustic jute material giving off a warm earthy feel to the space. The flooring is of rustic tiles laid in varying patterns and some with d of metallic checker plate designs to complete the look. An amusingly creative billing counter was made to look like a local train ticket counter and another delightful art wall was decorated with stencils of all kinds of tickets.

The trendy designed hangout bar features in its interiors unique seating spaces customized to replicate coal minecarts with head-lit boogies that transport material on a track and is actually movable on its tracks and lockable too. This is set against a dramatic 3D wall mural showing a train arriving out of a tunnel. Hints of transport inspired industrial design are seen in varying styles throughout the space. Even the tabletops have touches of cogwheel patterns engraved on them along with metal inserts. A real bike sprocket was procured as a backlit design element on the DJ counter in sync with the theme of the space. This creative bar interior design space features Industrial apparatus-looking metallic lighting fixtures that were entirely customized to enhance the space. Quirky human-shaped floor lights were also customized for the outdoor areas.

The outdoor area features an interesting underground train map grid engraved on the floor that highlights stations and travel routes. A larger than life communal table with an interesting lighting design of ball lights trapped on a net suspended right above the table and set against a faceted green wall. The table itself has a rainforest stone countertop with its apron Another irresistible feature of the outdoor seating was the customized cable car seating that was raised a notch above the rest of the pace to give an authentic feel of being ‘up in the air’. The entire space is reminiscent of Ruskin Bond travel stories and manages to create a sense of travel nostalgia that we have all savoured.
